Isolated Storms and Heat Continuing Through The Weekend

Hey folks, welcome back to the Kentucky summer Groundhog Day pattern of isolated storms and heat continuing through the weekend.

Isolated Storms and Heat Today and Tomorrow

After blazing temperatures yesterday and scattered storms last night, we will again have a good chance of isolated storms firing up this afternoon while highs reach the balmy upper 80’s.   With little wind shear, getting severe storms anytime this week looks unlikely though.

Tonight and into tomorrow morning should stay dry under the reduced humidity of the weakly named “cold” front.  However, by tomorrow afternoon, southern winds will draw up more heat and humidity from the Gulf of Mexico leading to isolated storms.

Bottom line this week, keep an umbrella with you, roll your car windows up when rain is approaching, and stay hydrated if you have to work outside.

With continuing southern winds, isolated, pop up storms with temperatures in the upper 80’s will also be possible on Saturday and Sunday.  No severe winds or even hail look to occur, but some localized flooding could result from the worst storms this weekend.

Possible Pattern Change to Dry and Hot Next Week

The latest model guidance seems to show that the high pressure system guiding moisture from the south into our region will grow even stronger next week.

By Monday the high pressure should rotate moisture up from the south well to our west leaving us dry. h/t pivotal wx

This will lead to us just being dry and hot after Monday.  That’s all I have for today, follow @wxornotbg for the latest updates.
