Rain to Start the Workweek; Cool to End it

Good Sunday morning to you folks! Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend, and is relaxed. We are looking at rain to start the workweek, with much cooler conditions to end it.

Semi-Sunny Sunday

Well, at least you’ll have sunshine for the majority of the first half of the day, at least after we get this fog to dissipate! Most of us are waking up to some fog across the region, but that should quickly mix out this morning.

Check out the fog over WKU's campus! It isn't too dense, and you can see the crystal clear skies awaiting above it. h/t WKU Weather

We’re on the backside of a mid-level disturbance that has also weakened, so we aren’t seeing much air being lifted. Air is being suppressed, thus giving us clearer skies to start the day!

That won’t last too long, though. Partly cloudy skies will develop this afternoon, and maybe and isolated shower or two. By this evening, thicker clouds should arrive as our next weather maker approaches the region.

Highs today should make it into the mid and upper 80s (87ºF-88ºF).

Rainy Monday

A strong low pressure system will make its way from the southern Plains states into the northern Missouri/southern Iowa region by Monday evening.

Ahead of this, a warm front will push its way through the region on Monday morning/early afternoon. Along with plentiful cloud cover, we are also expecting a round of showers and storms to move through.

We'll be waiting for the cold front, but a round of showers and storms is also expected Monday late morning/early afternoon. h/t pivotalweather

After this pushes through, expect some breaks in the clouds to develop. I don’t know that it will warm us up too much from what we would have been, but I am expecting highs in the mid 80s (83ºF-85ºF).

By Monday evening, a cold front will be pushing eastward across the western Ohio Valley. This will force a line of storms that we expect to move into the region overnight on Monday and into Tuesday morning.

This isn’t expected to be severe, but some of the storms could be strong. The SPC has us in a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe storms because of this threat.

Tuesday Weather Improving

The cold front is expected to push through Tuesday morning, with a secondary front moving through Tuesday afternoon.

This should yeild partly sunny skies and isolated showers during the afternoon hours ahead of the secondary front. I don’t foresee any widespread rain being an issue.

Behind that secondary front lies an amazing air mass switch up. We will see a major cool down coming after it passes! Highs Tuesday are expect to be in the lower 80s (81ºF-82ºF).

Major Cool down!

Yes, it is on its way! The cool down that I have advertised will arrive Tuesday evening and last through Friday.

I am so pumped. Daily highs are expected to be around 80ºF or less, with morning lows getting into the 50s. For you Autumn lovers, it will be a very nice taste of Autumn (I am very ready for Autumn).
