Isolated Storms Today Before More Rain to Start Next Week

Good morning folks! It has been a nice bit since I last wrote forecast for you all, and I am looking forward to this one. We are looking at isolated storms today before more rain to start next week, so buckle on up!

Sweet Saturday Storms

I know we have been stuck in a stormy pattern as of late, but I can’t think of much better than an afternoon thunderstorms on a Saturday (when I can actually enjoy watching it).

We have a weak cold front situated to our north that will be sagging southward/phasing out today. This will provide some forcing for isolated storms to develop this afternoon.

If you have outdoor plans, don’t fret. I do not expect to see storms all day. However, there will be isolated storms just making their way on through the region today. Lightning and heavy rain are the expected threats.

In between, expect sunshine, and highs in the mid 80s (85ºF-86ºF). Overall, not a terrible summer day! Get out and enjoy the day, but just be aware of the isolated storm threat.

Sunday Sunshine Settles in

By Sunday, this pesky cold front finally weakens and moves to our south.

This will leave us with plentiful sunshine, and some warmer temperatures. I am expecting highs in the upper 80s (87ºF-88ºF).

By the afternoon hours, we’ll likely see high clouds move into the region ahead of our next weather maker to start the work week. These really won’t do much to impact the forecast, but I figured I would just inform you.

Manic Monday Weather

Yes, active weather returns to the region to start the work week. At least this wasn’t the forecast for this weekend, because it would be nearly a washout.

A strong area of low pressure will develop across the central Plains on Sunday evening, and propagate into northern Missouri/southern Iowa by Monday evening.

This will push a warm front through during the day on Monday. Along this, showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the region, creating a rainy day just in general across the region.

Once this passes through the region, we’ll turn our eyes to the cold front, expected to pass through Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

Along this, expect showers and storms. We don’t expect anything severe along this at this time, but we’ll keep a close eye on the system as a whole over the coming days.

Highs Monday will be dependent on the arrival and duration of rainfall and clouds, but I don’t think we’ll get beyond the mid 80s (82ºF-84ºF is my current thinking).

Cool Down Midweek

Beyond the three day forecast, we are looking at the likelihood of a pretty major cool down after the cold front pushes through!

Yes, it is exciting. Highs may not get out of the upper 70s some days next week.
