Memorial Day Weekend Starts Stormy

I hope you’ve enjoyed the relatively dry weather we’ve had for the last couple of days because the weather is going to turn wet as we round out May because Memorial Day weekend starts stormy.

Toasty to Possibly Stormy Friday

All good things must come to and end and that’s especially true in the world of weather.

The high pressure system that dominated out weather throughout the middle of the week will begin to make way for a disturbance moving in from the west during the day today.

Our winds from the southwest will allow moisture and cloudiness to increase throughout the day today as will the temperatures outside. This heat, combined with moisture, will result in the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms developing tomorrow. Nothing looks to be too strong but you may still get some heavy rain and brief gusty winds.

Plus, the showers and storms should help us cool off from what will be a hot and humid day, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper-80s. Temperatures at night should moderate even though we keep the showers in the forecast, with lows only around 70º.

Yep, Same for Saturday

As south-central Kentucky will remain under the influence of this system, tomorrow’s going to be quite the soggy day.

Because southwesterly winds will still be with us, we’ll keep the scattered storm chances in the forecast and even ramp them up as we’ll have more moisture around to work with.

These scattered showers and thunderstorms look to be most prevalent during the afternoon hours.

Despite the increased rain chances, we’ll still reach around 85º for a high with things remaining muggy as well. Storm chances will be lesser at night but will still be there as we once again only drop down to around 70º for a low.

Some Relief for Sunday?

Good news!

Well, the storm system will still be with us but it will begin to move away. Scattered storms will again be possible in the afternoon but we’ll finally get rid of them heading into Sunday night. Highs will still be around 85º before we fall back to around 70º again at night as showers and storms finally dissipate.
