Summer-Like Heat Continues

Hey, folks! Hope we’re doing well on this beautiful Sunday morning. I 100% can now recognize that we have skipped Spring and jumped to Summer, which is the worst. Unfortunately, Summer-like heat continues.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day, everyone! Hope everyone has cool things planned for their mother. If not, at least get her some flowers or something!

Yes, it is going to be sunny again today. I guess that is one positive about this recent stretch of weather –  we haven’t had too many bad weather days!

Today is looking like another one of those days. Expect partly cloudy skies to develop this afternoon, as per usual on a day like today during the summer time.

Highs are expected to be in the upper 80s and lower 90s (~89ºF-90ºF). Sunshine will be plentiful, so if the mothers out there are heading to the pool by themselves or with the family, be sure to pack the SPF 50!

Monotonous Monday

The ridge that has been protecting us from rain and storms recently will continue to do so, only as a stronger ridge by Monday afternoon.

The ridge is expected to briefly get stronger and that will help to make it hotter here. h/t pivotalweather.com

This should lead to even warmer temperatures by Monday afternoon. We’re not expecting any thunderstorms or anything, either. Just some partly cloudy skies by the afternoon hours. This forecast has truly been pretty monotonous recently!

Highs look to be in the lower 90s (~91ºF), and with dewpoints in the mid 60s, it will feel pretty bleh outside. I mean, I’m just glad that it won’t be upper 90s that we are dealing with. I honestly couldn’t deal with that at this point.

Lows for this forecast (each day) are largely expected to be in the mid 60s, so at least there will be one part of the day that feels nice!

Terrific Tuesday

I feel like a broken record, but this is truly what a summer-time forecast is like. It is very bland, and just leads to a pool forecast honestly.

Tuesday is another one of those. Don’t make the mistake of wearing long sleeves or jeans unless you have to. Shorts and short-sleeved shirts, or even tank tops, will continue to be the norm. Its just too hot for anything else!

Temps should be in the upper 80s and lower 90s (~89ºF) Tuesday. I think we’ll see some high clouds increasing by the end of the day from the south, so that may impact the highs. It shouldn’t impact them too much, though.

So, if you can, go to a local ice cream shop or grab your favorite iced coffee to cool off on Tuesday or any of these days. It is gonna be hot out, so we’ll have to deal with that.

Cool Down Wednesday-The Weekend

Not gonna write anything in ink at this time, but a disturbance will approach us from the west by Wednesday, and will absorb some tropical activity in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.

This will lead to multiple days of rain chances to end the week, and will help to cool us down quite a bit. The only day that looks to be a true washout right now is Thursday. Outside of that, expect scattered activity.

Well, that is all I have for you folks! This is the first official forecast that I have done as Meteorologist Pierce Larkin, and it feels wonderful. I am thankful that I get to forecast for the fine folks here in south-central Kentucky!

Take it easy folks, stay cool, drink plenty of fluids, and lather the sunscreen on. Be sure to follow @wxornotBG for the latest forecasts!
