Flooding Concerns Rise

A rainy day is underway across the region for today. This means that flooding concerns rise today and tomorrow. A cold front will slowly move through the region, making for abundant rain throughout the day. Temperatures are currently hovering just a touch under 60°. We should warm a bit into the mid 60s by this afternoon. The HRRR displays just how widespread the rain will be.

Due to the abundance of rain expected today, a slight risk of flash flooding has been issued. Think of this as a level 2 out of 4 threat. If you come to a flooded roadway, don’t drive through it.

Rain will continue overnight, though it should decrease in intensity. A Flood Watch will go into effect this evening and into Thursday evening as rain continues to fall on saturated soil.

A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire wxornotBG region from 7 pm tonight through 10 pm Thursday night.

Lows will drop back into the upper 50s once again.

More Heavy Rain Thursday

Another round of heavy rain is expected Thursday morning as a warm front lifts through the region. This will help warm temperatures into the mid to upper 60s once again. There may be a break in the rain Thursday evening. Once again a slight risk of flash flooding has been issued as flooding concerns rise. Think of this as a level 2 out of 4 threat.

A couple of storms may be possible during the overnight hours on Thursday as a cold front pushes through the region. These storms could produce heavy rain. Most of the rain should depart the region by midnight as lows drop into the low 40s. Overall 2-4″ of rain may be possible throughout the event.

Dry Friday

High pressure will move into place on Friday, leading to nicer conditions. Light rain in the morning hours should give way to partly cloudy skies. Highs will top out in the upper 50s.

A cold Friday night is expected as lows drop back into the upper 30s under mostly clear skies.
