We’ve had some nice days this week after we got that early week snow out of here, but we’re not quite done with the precipitation quite yet. We’ve got one more great day but rain is on the way for the weekend.

Fairly Good Friday

One more day of nice weather is on tap to finish off our work week but we will be stuck with some cloud cover.

Today’s weather basically. (Giphy/FOX)

Clouds will be on the increase today as our next rainmaker approaches for the nighttime hours and that should hold our temperatures in check. Even with a warm front nosing it’s way back into the region, the clouds will keep the high in the mid to upper-50s this afternoon…and then the rain comes.

With the cloud cover comes rain chances as a disturbance pivots in from the south and west to bring us widespread scattered showers during the late evening and into the overnight hours tonight.

Here’s what the NAM thinks about our precip chances tonight into early tomorrow. (Pivotal Weather)

Since we’re not expecting a large amount of rain, just some widespread coverage, we’re not expecting too much in the way of flooding but anything heavier could cause a few ponding issues, so keep that in mind.

Storm or Two on Saturday?

Yes, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that we might hear a rumble of thunder or two during the day tomorrow. A warm front will finally surge northward during the morning and shift our winds to the southwest and they’ll be breezy.

These winds will allow our temperatures to surge as well, nearly to the 70º mark! But, as usual, there’s a price to be paid for the nice temperatures.

The low pressure system associated with that warm front will begin to move toward the area and as it does, it could spark off some showers and thunderstorms. As of right now, the models are firing these just south of the region and as always, we’ll be keeping tabs on the latest forecast trends. If you manage to avoid the rain, Saturday won’t be too bad outside of the gusty winds.

Rain will begin to taper by Saturday evening, leaving us with a low of around 40º under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunny Again by Sunday

The good news is that we’ll be on the back side of that low pressure system by the day on Sunday, ushering in cooler but still comfortable highs under just some fair weather clouds. Certainly the pick of the weekend.

Winds will be out of the north and northwest, allowing highs to still reach around 60º before clouds begin to filter back in toward the evening hours. Yep, it’s our next system for Monday sneaking in during the overnight. Lows only make it down to around 45º as we set up for what will be a soggy start to the new work week.
