Before we get to today’s awesome weather, we have to preview the soggy weekend ahead. A Flood Watch has been issued for the region this weekend. The only exception is Butler County but they’ll see rain too, regardless.
But more on that in a bit, now back to what’s going to be a tremendous day.
Tremendous Friday On Tap
I cannot talk enough about how amazing today is going to be, especially after a chilly day yesterday that had some hints of a warmup.
A high pressure system that’s stayed above our heads for the past few days has given way to the backside of a warm front, allowing us to bask in sweet, sweet southwesterly winds.
Those will allow us to warm to amazing highs well into the low-to-mid 60s under mostly sunny skies. Compared to the past week or so, it’s going to feel downright fantastic. However, it will be breezy throughout the day, so keep those hats secure!
Clouds will begin to gather as we head into Friday evening as our next weather system approaches and begins to spread a few rain showers our way.
Lows will only fall back towards the mid-40s as rain begins to overspread the area.
Soggy Saturday
Yes, unfortunately, the bulk of the rain will fall during the weekend.
You saw the radar loop gif above, it’s going to rain tomorrow. Said rain, which could be heavy at times, will overspread the region from southwest to northeast throughout the morning hours into the afternoon. This will only allow highs to approach the mid-50s. It’s just a good day to stay inside.
As for rainfall totals, models have varied but are generally in agreement with the potential of between 2 and 3 inches of rainfall this weekend and that could cause a few issues with local streams, so just keep that in mind.
Wet weather begins to taper off as the cold front begins to push through, allowing temperatures at night to cool near 40º as the rain begins to end.
Not so Sunny Sunday
Sunday will still feature a few lingering showers as some wraparound moisture works through the region. Under cloudy skies, highs will only reach into the mid-40s which will cool to near 30º at night which may allow a couple of flakes to sneak in. No big deal but might be a pretty sight to see.
That just about does it for me! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg. Have a terrific Friday!
