A Friday Above Freezing
According to the Kentucky Mesonet data nobody in our area, not even Bowling Green, managed to get to freezing yesterday much less above it. Well, if that bums you out, I’ve got good news: we’re headed well above freezing today.
We’ll start the day with high pressure sitting off to our south and that has brought southwesterly winds back to the area…allowing us to slowly warm yesterday and those winds will give our temperatures another boost today.
Our warmer temperatures will finally be felt in earnest as readings reach into the upper 30s to near 40º with full sunshine. Allowing us not only a chance to (somewhat) warm our bones from the major chill of the past week but also give some of that pesky snow and ice a chance to start melting away. Finally.
Clouds will be on the increase Friday night from our south and west and will keep our temperatures from falling too much, with lows in the upper 20s to near 30º.
Sweet-Looking Saturday
If you like today, you’re going to like tomorrow even better as we keep partly cloudy skies overhead but add a few more degrees to that high. Thanks to that high pressure system nudging ever so slightly to the east, it will help pump in more seasonable weather on Saturday.
Warmer temperatures, especially with that sunshine, will push highs between 45º and 50º for much of the area. A very welcome sight after temperatures so cold and weather to wintry, we used the word “gelid” 3 times this week.
Clouds will become a bit thicker overnight as our next advancing weathermaker appears on the horizon. and that should keep our lows above freezing in the mid-to-upper 30s.
Quite the Cloudy Sunday
Clouds will overspread our region on Sunday ahead of a cold front that’s going to bring us another chance for rain as we head into the new work week. Temperatures should be even warmer as we climb well into the mid-50s, even with the intermittent cloud cover. We should stay dry during the day, with the rain approaching at night and into the day on Monday.
