It Looks Straight up COLD Today
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope all are surrounded by family and friends, and are celebrating this Christmas holiday. What a wonderful day!
Today will likely be the coldest Christmas since 2004, as I mentioned yesterday. However, I do want that to sink in. We have only been this cold once or twice since 2004 on Christmas!
We’re only looking at highs getting into the low 30s this afternoon, and with clouds increasing ahead of our next weak system, its just gonna be downright cold.
That weak system looks to move in late this evening and into the overnight hours, and may bring light snow to the region. It is looking iffy at this point, but it is so cold that it could cause slick spots for tomorrow morning’s commuters.
What Happens Next?
Well, it certainly looks cold the next several days! Tuesday and Wednesday truly don’t look to get out of the mid 30s as we stay within deep northwesterly flow aloft.
This should also continue to send weak disturbances our way for a few days, keeping us partly sunny to mostly cloudy at times on Tuesday. Wednesday looks sunny!
We’re looking at a couple of main time slots to watch for snowfall chances: Thursday/Friday, and this upcoming weekend. We’ve been watching these for a while.
The models a bit variable with them, but both systems look to depend on the timing of the southern and northern streams, and whether or not the two can phase in time to bring big snow.

Hope is not high for that at the time; it looks like that will occur to our east with both systems. Even so, there is still a chance at snow later this week. Stay tuned!
