Breezy & Warm Today; Strong Storms Possible Tonight

The Headline

I think there are a few headlines that I could choose from today. Its looking fairly active across the region over the next few days, and that should keep us plenty busy.

Today, we’re waking up to cloudy and breezy conditions, with temperatures in the upper 60s. As a cold front approaches from the northwest, we’ll see southwesterly breezy increase into the 15-25 mph range, warming temps to the mid 70s.

Its looking breezy and warm out there, folks! h/t pivotalweather.com

This front was anticipated to make it here way late into tonight, preventing any significant severe weather threat across the region; however, that is no longer the case.

The northwestern half of our area is in a Slight risk for severe storms, while the southeastern portion is in a Marginal risk. h/t SPC

The front is looking to get here between 10 PM and 2 am, which is a good timeframe for severe weather with this. Some of the ingredients are there, but we’ll be losing daytime heating, and that is the counter to this.

This shouldn’t be too widespread of an event, but some reports of damaging winds are possible. Heavy rain and lightning are also threats. Once the front pushes through, temps will drop like a rock into the mid 50s.

That is where we look to spend much of tomorrow, actually. Mostly cloudy skies will blanket the region, and northerly flow will keep it cold. Throw in isolated showers, and fall-like weather returns.
