The Headlines
Late summer cold fronts often spark change. Fittingly, since yesterday was the unofficial end of summer (it felt every bit of it) and meteorological fall is already underway, why not add some actual fall-like weather to the mix, eh?
Well, if you’re excited for the time of year where leaves crunch beneath your feet and large doses of pumpkin spice re-enter your diet, I have the forecast for you.
The Details
This morning begins in a decidedly less fall-like fashion with a cold front working through the area. This front brought some severe weather to portions of the Upper Mississippi Valley yesterday and last night.
This front is bringing our most substantial chance of rain for the rest of the week…and after this weekend, that’s just fine with me.
Once the rain gets out of here heading into this afternoon, we’ll see the clouds slowly begin to thin out, leaving us with a nice…if a bit chilly night.
Today: Scattered thunderstorms possible early, storms ending and skies clearing through the day. High around 73º. Partly cloudy skies as the clouds continue thinning out overnight, with a low falling to around 55º.
- Wake up: ⛈ 70°
- Lunch hour: 🌧 72°
- Afternoon plans: ☁️ 73°
- Evening time: ⛅️ 66°
After that, here comes fall.
Canadian high pressure begins to take control on the back side of the front and that means some much cooler, much dryer and much sunnier weather will begin to infiltrate the region.
I mean, we’re talking jackets/hoodies-in-the-morning weather and that is just fantastic. I love fall…or at least fall-like weather).
Tomorrow: Mostly sunny skies return with light winds and high right around 70º. Clear skies prevail overnight with lows falling to a chilly 50º or so.
- Wake up: 🌤 55°
- Lunch hour: 🌤 67°
- Afternoon plans: 🌤 69°
- Evening time: 🌤 62°
Did you like Wednesday’s weather? Well…
Thursday is going to be much the same as Wednesday. High pressure still dominates, keeping us mostly sunny with wonderful temperatures. I mean look at these!
Simply wonderful weather on tap.
Thursday: More of the same mostly sunny skies over the region and more highs near 70º. More clear skies overnight and more lows near the 50º mark.
- Wake up: 🌤 56°
- Lunch hour: 🌤 68°
- Afternoon plans: 🌤 71°
- Evening time: 🌤 64°
The Bottomline
- A few thunderstorms possible this morning as a cold front passes. Conditions improve this afternoon and evening.
- Canadian high pressure settles in for Wednesday and Thursday, providing sunny and comfortable weather.
- Though I wasn’t kidding about needing a jacket in the mornings later this week.
