The Headlines
We spent yesterday drying out and eventually the sun came back out, allowing us to warm back into the mid-70s. After all the rain Harvey brought us to start the weekend, it felt nice to just have the sun back, didn’t it? Well, if you liked that, then I think you’re going to love the forecast for the back half of Labor Day weekend.
The Details
Settling in after the soaking Harvey gave us is a small ridge of high pressure that will dominate our weather for the next couple of days.
You guessed it! That means the clouds will stay at bay, allowing plenty of sunshine for warming us up and drying us out.
The southern and southwesterly winds on the back side of that high will allow temperatures back up into the 80º range, which is perfectly fine with me. It’s fitting that Mother Nature is giving us some summer-like weather for summer’s unofficial goodbye.
Today: Sunshine makes it’s triumphant return along with a high right around 80º. A southwesterly breeze develops overnight under clear skies, with a low only around 65º.

And we’ll be experiencing much of the same for our Labor Day Monday.
High pressure will remain in control and we’ll continue to see southwesterly winds introduce warmer and more humid air into our region on our holiday. As a result, highs will be a bit warmer on Monday, reaching near the mid-80s.
But with the warmth comes changes. Changes in this case coming in the form of a trough of low pressure beginning to edge it’s way in on Monday night, introducing clouds and maybe a few showers in the overnight but leaving the main show for Tuesday.
🛠Labor Day🛠: Mostly sunny skies continue as highs creep towards 83º. Clouds begin to increase overnight with a few showers possible late. Low falling back to about 65º.

A cold front is going to begin to approach the area during the day on Tuesday, bringing with it a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
We’re trying to hammer out the details but a few could be on the strong side later in the day. Of course, we’ll keep an eye on it. The good news is, we won’t see anything like what we saw earlier this weekend in terms of rainfall.
Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms possible, otherwise mostly cloudy with a high close to 80º. Showers begin to taper off overnight with a low near 60º

The Bottomline
- Lots of sunshine returns for Sunday and Monday.
- Temperatures look to rebound into the 80s as well on both days.
- Rain chances look to go up on Tuesday.
- But nicer weather looks on the table heading into midweek.
