The Headlines

Well, the week hasn’t been too bad weather-wise. Humidity hasn’t been too extreme, temperatures haven’t been too hot and we’ve seen a healthy share of sunshine. Naturally, as we head toward the weekend, rain chances are upon us.

I’ll let Stephanie Tanner handle my exasperation with Mother Nature. (Giphy)

The Details

Our winds are currently from the south ahead of a cold front approaching from the Great Lakes region. The air has only been getting more juicy across the area and that’s going to fuel the possibility of showers and thunderstorms for the day today.

Even before the front gets here, small disturbances are going to pass through and interact with our soupy airmass to help fire those storms.

Those southerly winds are also helping in the temperature department, adding in upper 80s to dew points in the 70s to create that “yuck” feeling.

Today:  Mid-80s for highs as mostly cloudy skies rule the day with increasing chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Storm chances greatest in the afternoon and evening. Storms begin to taper later in the evening, falling back to a low near 70º.

  • Wake up: 🌥 70°
  • Lunch hour: 🌥 85°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌥/⛈ 86°
  • Evening time: 🌥/⛈ 80°

The good news is that we’ll get the front through here early.

We’ll try to get the rain out with it but Ma Nature’s nothing if not tough so a few stragglers might want to stick around for the afternoon but overall, weather will be improving.

The clouds don’t seem to want to go either way but that’ll help us keep those temps a bit more in check. Lower humidity won’t do a great job infiltrating the area but dew points will go down a bit, creating a more comfortable Saturday compared to today.

Tomorrow:  Chance for a stray shower or two as the front clears the area but otherwise mostly cloudy and dry. Highs fall slightly to around 85º. Clouds begin to clear late afternoon and into the evening, lows falling to around 65º.

  • Wake up: 🌥/⛈ 70°
  • Lunch hour: ⛅️ 79°
  • Afternoon plans: ⛅️ 84°
  • Evening time: 🌤 75°

Did you like Saturday’s forecast? Hope so, because it’s much of the same for Sunday…sans front.

At least it’s not pouring rain? (Giphy)

Skies will vary between partly and mostly cloudy as we sit firmly in between systems to close out the weekend. We could even bump some of those temperatures up a bit with a bit more sunshine.

Overall, not that bad of a weekend and I’d much rather have the clouds now than during the upcoming eclipse, right?

Sunday:  Partly to mostly cloudy skies prevail again, once again topping out around 85º. Nighttime lows under increasing clouds nearing 70º.

  • Wake up: 🌥 67°
  • Lunch hour: ⛅️ 83°
  • Afternoon plans: ⛅️ 85°
  • Evening time: ⛅️ 77°

The Bottomline

  • Front approaches our soupy airmass, triggering showers and storms.
  • Just kind of yuck today.
  • Front begins to clear Saturday, humidity drops a bit but clouds hang tough.
  • More of the same mostly cloudy skies on Sunday.

That just about does it for me! Thanks for checking into wxornotBG this morning, and be sure to follow @wxornotBG and @WKUweather on Twitter and like Landon Hampton on Facebook for the latest on our storm chances throughout the day.
