It’s the Heat *and* the Humidity, Summer Feel Is Here

Forecast Discussion

Saturday wasn’t too bad. Temperatures were toasty but the humidity wasn’t too much of an issue. That begins to change today. Summer, folks, is here.

Temperatures today won’t be too much warmer than yesterday, still hovering around that 90º mark, but what will be on the increase is the humidity. South winds have been transporting juicy air up from the south and the Gulf of Mexico, increasing that tropical feel around the area.

Dew points this afternoon will be firmly in the “muggy” category. (Pivotal Weather)

Today: Mostly sunny skies with increasing humidity. High in the upper 80s, close to 90º. Skies remain mostly clear at night, with lows only falling to near 70º.

  • Wake up: ☀️ 65°
  • Lunch hour: 🌤 85°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌤 88°
  • Evening time: 🌤 82°

Monday is the quintessential summer day. Straight up hot and humid.

The upper level ridge is continuing to exert it’s dominance over our weather and that means more south winds. And more south wind means, you guessed it, more humidity.

Dew Points tomorrow afternoon. Just…yuck. (Pivotal Weather)

Along with that higher humidity will come a slight chance for a few pop-up storms. You know, a couple of popcorn-type storms that go up for 20-30 minutes, sit there and dump heavy rain, and then fade away. They’ll be the exception rather than the rule, but worth mentioning in case you get some brief relief. Other than that?

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and hazy skies with the chance of a widely isolated pop-up storm in the afternoon. Highs “settle back” to the upper 80s. After any storms fade, we’ll settle back to near 70º with storm chances ticking back up by daybreak.

  • Wake up: 🌤 72°
  • Lunch hour: 🌤 84°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌤/⛈ 86°
  • Evening time: 🌤 80°

More of the same on the way for Tuesday, but with a couple more storms.

A weather system will be headed our way for the day on Tuesday. No, it won’t help with lowering the temperatures or the humidity, but it will provide enhanced storm chances.

We have a bit of time to iron out timing but just know, thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday as well.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and hazy skies with chances of pop-up storms in the afternoon. Highs again in the mid-upper-80s. After storms fade, we’ll settle back to near 70º again under mostly clear skies.

  • Wake up: 🌤 74°
  • Lunch hour: 🌤/⛈ 83°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌤/⛈ 85°
  • Evening time: 🌤 75°

Outside of that, always remember that if you’re going out into this summer heat, wear light, loose-fitting clothing, take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Also, if you’re traveling and have the little ones with you, always remember to check the back seat if you’re leaving the car.

Today’s Key Points

  • Mostly sunny today, same heat, higher humidity.
  • Even higher humidity tomorrow, with a pop-up storm or two.
  • Rain chances and the humidity (again) go up for Tuesday.
  • Yep, that’s summer weather for ya.
