Mother Nature Celebrating Mother’s Day with Fantastic Weather

Forecast Discussion

Man, after Friday’s seemingly endless rain, yesterday was a an absolutely fantastic day. And that great weather will continue to close out our weekend.

The high pressure system that gave us the gorgeous weather on Saturday will still be in the area today, but it’s beginning the slow retreat to the east.

The high being to the east will mean winds shifting to the south and southwest, bringing with it warmer temperatures. We’ll start out cool (but not too chilly) in the morning, great for a cup of coffee on the back porch…and we could even start off with some patchy fog.

It sure will warm up in the afternoon, though. We’ll be pushing 80º this afternoon and that’s only the beginning.

💐Today💐: Beautifully sunny day with light winds and a high around 80º. With clear skies remaining overhead at night, expect lows to settle around 60º.

  • Wake up: ☀️ 63°
  • Lunch hour: ☀️ 72°
  • Afternoon plans: ☀️ 81°
  • Evening time: ☀️ 68°

And now the warm-up begins.

For Monday we’ll be ushering in a much larger dome of high pressure, a large ridge that’s going to allow us to warm up and get a bit soupy.

Plus, the southerly wind flow is also going to increase our moisture content. Look for dew point values just above the 60º mark, which isn’t too horrible for mid-May but you’ll start to feel it. Other than that, Monday looks just fine, just not quite as fantastic as Saturday or Sunday.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny skies with a touch more humidity and a high around 84º. Clear skies at night should once again to fall around 60º.

  • Wake up: ☀️ 62°
  • Lunch hour: ☀️ 78°
  • Bus stop: ☀️ 83°
  • Evening time: ☀️ 74°

The trend continues for Tuesday.

It’s not far off, folks. (Giphy)

Southwesterly winds will pump in just a touch more heat and a touch more humidity but that’s all it takes for the summer-like feel to take hold. Not sweltering yet, but we’re on our way.

NAM forecast heat index values for Tuesday afternoon. If the models are trending a touch cool though, these will too. (Pivotal Weather)

Again, it’s no full-on summer day but the heat will be there.

Heat already? (Giphy/Starz)

Tuesday: Another sunny day but slightly warmer and with more humidity, high around 87º. Clear skies stay at night but that touch more mugginess will keep the low from getting too cool, right around 65º

  • Wake up: ☀️ 65°
  • Lunch hour: ☀️ 77°
  • Bus stop: ☀️ 86°
  • Evening time: ☀️ 78°

Today’s Key Points

  • Great weather for an outdoor picnic for Mother’s Day.
