Today will not be pleasant at all.

This morning a low pressure system is passing Bowling Green and working it’s way across the state. This is the low that provided us with the wet weather for yesterday…and it’s not quite done yet, but it gets worse.

Forecast for 7am this morning. (WPC/AWC)

Since the low pressure is now off to our east, not only are we getting the wrap-around wet weather on the backside of it, but we’re getting northwesterly winds as well. These northwesterly winds are providing us with quite cool temps for this time of year. The average high for May 5 is 75º and the average low is 52º.

Cold, windy and rainy, is it May or March?

🌷🐎 Today 🐎🌷: More showers around the area, off and on all day. High only around 54º. Showers begin to taper at night, with a low around 45º.

  • Wake up: 🌧  52°
  • Lunch hour: 🌧 53°
  • Bus stop: 🌧 54°
  • Evening time: 🌧 49°

(Yes, I’m aware those are tulips and not lilies. Blame the people who make emojis.)

The weather finally begins to improve for Saturday.

That pesky low pressure finally begins moving to the east and that allows us to dry out.

Well, for the most part. There’s still a shot for a stray shower or two since we’ve still got some of that wrap-around moisture and another wave of energy moving through, but for the most part Saturday will be a much better…and warmer…day.

🌹🐎 Tomorrow 🐎🌹: Mostly sunny with a chance of a shower or two in the afternoon. High around 65º. At night, clouds clear with a low near 40º. Brr!

  • Wake up: 🌤  50°
  • Lunch hour: 🌤 60°
  • Derby parties: 🌤/🌧 65°
  • Evening time: 🌤 62°

The wet weather will be but a distant memory by Sunday.

What else is there to say but perfect!

Just like Big Red. (USA Today/NCAA)

We’re going to follow up that low pressure’s nasty weather with refreshing high pressure, giving us sunny days, clear skies and nice temps.

I literally have nothing else to say other than “get out and enjoy it!”

Maybe play a little baseball? (Giphy/MLBAM)

Sunday: Finally some sunny skies! Highs once again right around the 65º mark. Clear skies overnight with lows around 40º…again.

  • Wake up: 🌤  45°
  • Lunch hour: 🌤 58°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌤 65°
  • Evening time: 🌤 47°

Today’s Key Points

  • Friday looks like just the worst. Cold, windy and wet.
  • Improvement on Saturday for the Run for the Roses. The sun returns but shower chances remain as well.
  • Sunday looks picture perfect. Mid-60s and sunshine with not a raincloud in sight!

That just about does it for me! Thanks for checking into WxOrNotBG this morning, and be sure to follow @wxornotBG and @WKUweather on Twitter and like Landon Hampton on Facebook for the latest Bowling Green Weather information. Have a terrific Friday!
