Rain and Clouds Today; Hope on the Horizon

Yesterday did end up being pretty crappy, but today may be right up there with it in terms of crappiness.

That closed low that I talked about in the mid-levels of the atmosphere? Well, it formed and is slowly deepening as it moves southeast over middle Tennessee. This is helping to form rain showers across the region currently, and will continue to do so throughout the day.

As you head out this morning, you’ll notice thick cloud cover, and that likely won’t be going anywhere this afternoon. This should keep highs firmly in the upper 50s and maybe lower 60s, if we are lucky.

This mid-level low pressure system looks to dig deeper into the southeastern US as we head into your Monday, but we’ll still be feeling its influence a bit. It will likely keep some low level moisture locked into the region during the day, which will promote cloud cover and cooler temps.

I think we’ll see mostly cloudy skies through the early afternoon hours, with gradual clearing thereafter. Look for highs to work their way into the low and mid 60s tomorrow.

By Tuesday, though, our hope for great weather has returned.

We will be seeing return flow ahead of the next weather maker in the central Plains, which will allow for temps to warm up quite nicely across the region! Expect temps to return to the upper 70s, with sunny skies back.
