Yesterday’s Weather

Pretty much. h/t giphy.com

And that’s really all needs to be said.

Forecast Discussion

And the super duper sunny weather keeps trucking right along to end the work week.

Thursday looks like one of the warmer days we’ve seen so far this year. We’ll be in between storm systems and caught right in an area without much wind, meaning not much mixing of the air. And since we’ll have close to full sunshine…it’s going to be an absolutely fantastic day.

Hi-res NAM surface temperatures valid 4pm today. Yessssss. (Pivotal Weather)

It’s a perfect day for sitting outside and just enjoying the scenery or maybe…play your first intramural softball game because the first 3 were rained out. Really, anything you want to do!

However, the front that passed through the region late Tuesday and set the stage for yesterday’s sunny weather will be lifting back northward as a warm front late Thursday evening. That will shift the wind to the southeast and allow us to stay mild through the night.

Surface forecast valid for 7pm tonight. Notice the warm front in the northern part of the state. (Weather Prediction Center)

Today: Sunny skies with light winds. High temperatures around the 80º mark. Mostly clear skies at night, only falling to around 57º.

  • Bus stop: ☀️ 55º
  • Lunchtime: ☀️ 74º
  • School’s out: ☀️ 81º
  • Evening: ☀️ 72º

That warm front, however, will usher in a few changes to our forecast. Mostly sunny skies will remain but southerly winds will begin to kick up in the afternoon, ushering in even more warmth and some moisture into the atmosphere by afternoon.

Hi-res NAM surface dew points valid tomorrow at 1pm. A bit more moisture. (Pivotal Weather)

It won’t be very humid by any of the imagination but it will be just a touch stickier than today around the area. In fact, we could even spark a couple of isolated showers or thunderstorms for the day on Friday. Nothing widespread, but your average summertime popcorn storms will be possible in the heat of the afternoon.

Hi-res NAM simulated radar valid for 4pm tomorrow. Notice a some isolated specks of blue on there. (Pivotal Weather)

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny skies with a very slight chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. High tops out around 84º. Any showers that pop up will taper off by evening across the area. Lows at night only fall to around 60º.

  • Wake up: 🌤 65º
  • Lunchtime: 🌤 78º
  • School’s out: 🌤/🌦 82º
  • Evening: 🌤 74º

Saturday, while not quite as nice as the end of the workweek, certainly looks like the pick of the weekend. The day itself will be similar to Friday, with only a bit more cloudiness thanks to the influence of a weak low pressure system to our west that’s going to become a bigger player for our Easter Sunday. Temperatures will remain warm, if slightly lower thanks to the extra cloudiness.

NAM surface temperatures for 4pm on Saturday. (Pivotal Weather)

We begin to feel the effects of the low pressure system late Saturday night and early Sunday morning with scattered showers possible by that point. But otherwise, Saturday’s a gem, too.

Saturday: Partly sunny skies with another very slight chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. High tops out around 80º once again. Any showers that pop up will taper off by evening across the area before another chance moves in early Sunday morning. Lows at night around 60º.

  • Wake up: 🌤 67º
  • Lunchtime: 🌤 74º
  • Afternoon plans: 🌤/🌦 80º
  • Evening: 🌤 68º

Today’s Key Points

  • Today will be just like yesterday, only warmer.
  • Seriously, get out and enjoy today.
  • Friday looks even warmer but there’s a slight rain chance.
  • Slightly cooler on Saturday with a few more clouds and a similar rain chance
  • Sunday looks messier…but more on that later.

That just about does it for me! Thanks for checking into WxOrNotBG this morning, and be sure to follow @wxornotBG and @WKUweather on Twitter and like Landon Hampton on Facebook for the latest Bowling Green Weather information. Have a terrific Thursday!
