Temperatures Back on the Rise

wxornotBG 4/7/17: Sunshine returns today, however, it'll remain cool and windy. The weekend looks much nicer!

Yesterday’s Weather

Yeah, that wasn’t great. The back side of that low pressure was cold, windy and at times a bit showery. We did finish with a great sunset, though.

Forecast Discussion

We’re finally calming down after Wednesday’s severe weather threat and that’s setting up for a great weekend.

Today’s forecast looks worlds better than yesterday, with sunshine returning!

The low pressure that caused Wednesday’s severe weather is far off into the northeast with high pressure controlling our weather and keeping the winds, which will be gusty at times, out of the northwest for today.

Those northwesterly winds will keep our temperatures a bit cooler than normal but we’re heading in the right direction.

Hi-res NAM temperatures valid for 4pm today. (Pivotal Weather)

One thing we’ll have to watch out for tonight is frost. Winds should calm down as we head into this evening and with clear skies and high pressure in the area, temperatures will be able to fall into the lower-to-mid 30s across our area.

Today: Sunny skies with breezy northwesterly winds; high temperatures top out in the upper 50s. At night, skies remain clear, winds calm down and we fall into the mid-30s. This increases frost potential.

  • Bus stop: ☀️ 40º
  • Lunchtime: ☀️ 54º
  • School’s out: ☀️ 58º
  • Evening: ☀️ 42º

Our Saturday looks pretty similar to day…only better.

As that high pressure system scoots by to the south for the day Saturday, our winds will switch around to the south, pumping in more spring-like air that will allow our temperatures to rise.

Under sunny skies, we could easily see temperatures cracking the 70º mark once again.

The hi-res NAM may be slightly under-doing highs for tomorrow. (Pivotal Weather)

And the good news for those green thumbs out there, the winds should stick around for tomorrow night, allowing the air to mix and not nearly cool off as much. A bit cool? Yes. Frosty? No.

Tomorrow: Morning frost possible, otherwise sunny skies and southerly winds, high temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70º. At night, skies remain clear and we fall into the upper-40s for lows.

  • Wake up: ☀️ 35º
  • Lunchtime: ☀️ 62º
  • Afternoon plans: ☀️ 68º
  • Evening: ☀️ 52º

I’ve saved the best for last. Our weekend is going out on one heck of high note. Our southerly winds keep pumping in warmer air and our skies will remain wonderfully sunny. Highs will be approaching 80º! I don’t think we’ll get there but it’ll still be nice. Seriously, get out on Sunday if you can, it will be just fantastic. There’s really nothing more to say. Sunday’s dang near perfect.

Sunday: The same as Saturday only warmer, high temperatures in the upper-70s. At night, clouds will increase just slightly but we stay mostly clear. Lows falling into the mid-50s.

  • Wake up: ☀️ 53º
  • Lunchtime: ☀️ 73º
  • Afternoon plans: ☀️ 7
  • Evening: ☀️ 61º
Enjoy this gem of a weekend. (Giphy/ABC/CTV)
