Forecast Discussion

Man, sure has been some pleasant weather the past few days, especially for mid-February. Perhaps that’s awoken spring fever in a few people.

Anyway, this kind of weather will dominate our forecast for the better part of the next week with a couple of breaks nestled in there, but for the most part: warm and sunny.

Let’s start with today. There’s an area of high pressure sitting over the northern Gulf of Mexico and that’s helping throw some of that warm weather our way thanks to the southwesterly winds.

And those temperatures are really going to warm up. Mid-February really will feel like spring today.

Clouds will be on the increase tonight however, as our next weather maker works it’s way towards the region. An area of upper-level low pressure will move through the area mainly on the day Saturday, giving south-central Kentucky a shot at a few rain showers. Not a lot of rain expected but the chance is there nonetheless.

Despite the fact that this feature won’t be impacting us for long, it will keep the temperatures slightly depressed for the day on Saturday, with most areas not even cracking 60ºF.

An upper-level ridge replaces the upper-level trough during the day on Sunday allowing us to continue our warmup with much fewer clouds, and boy will it warm up.

I know I said 65ºF up there but a few places could make a run at 70ºF. (Pivotal Weather)
