Bowling Green Weather Gradually Improving

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar

Yesterday’s Weather

Bowling Green weather yesterday was, you guessed it, cold and surprisingly cloudy. I had every expectation that clouds would clear out a lot quicker than they did yesterday. Their presence led to cooler temps by the afternoon. Once the sunshine broke through, though, it was so nice. I felt like I hadn’t seen the sun in forever.

Discussion

This is maybe the simplest discussion that I have had in…phew, a long while. You know what? This will be a GIF only forecast in celebration of that!

It’ll also be a GIF only because the weather is pretty benign right now. The basic look at the atmosphere over the next few days doesn’t reveal much of anything for Bowling Green and southern KY as a whole.

The guidance points to two shortwaves that will move quickly to our north and east through this timeframe. The first one is quickly propagating towards the East Coast as I write this. It won’t really affect us in anyway; not even a cold front!

Quickly after this, another shortwave looks to propagate quickly across the northern Plains tomorrow and into Thursday. This one does look to do something to our weather. It will drag a cold front southward, creating cloudy skies Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

Additionally, temps will be just a bit cooler on Thursday after the frontal passage than they were on Wednesday. Just a bit cooler. Overall, this forecast looks very boring/calm. I will absolutely take that considering what occurred over the weekend.

Now, looking ahead, Christmas weekend looks weird. The models are consistently showing a deep shortwave trough moving into the central US, and developing a surface low. Where does this surface low track? Who knows. However, it is much, much, much more likely that we end up seeing a rainy Christmas (as it always is) than that we see a White Christmas.

We will have to see what happens. But right now, the only White Christmas we will see is the ones in movies and our dreams.
