Heat is On The Way For Bowling Green Weather

Yesterday’s Weather

Well, how does one describe perfection while being surrounding by insanity? That is how to describe the weather yesterday. It was perfect, and the insanity was the first day of the semester. It was a crazy day, but when it feels awesome outside, it is hard to think about that much!

Discussion

Well, this will likely be a GIF dominated forecast because this is next to nothing going on in the forecast!

There is an isolated chance at storms each of the next few days, but it was so minimal that I didn’t even discuss it in the summary forecast section. That is nice, but we’ll likely need it to cool us off by Thursday!

Today is looking very monotonous, and will likely set the tone for the next few days. Because there will be a vort max quickly moving eastward across the region by this evening, I do think we’ll see clouds increase in coverage. I don’t think that thunderstorms will be a big threat, though.

Highs today will be nice again, as they’ll only end up in the mid 80s across the region. Overnight tonight, look for mostly clear skies, and lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Tomorrow and Thursday look really similar. That is what you get with ridging!

That is alluding to the fairly strong ridge that will develop over the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys over the next few days, likely coming to its peak dominance on Thursday.

What is interesting is that complexes of thunderstorms will likely be moving along the northern edge of this in association with shortwave trough racing along the northern edge. The ridge is likely to be centered over us, though, keeping thunderstorm chances low.

Highs on Wednesday and Thursday are looking to jump into the lower 90s. What is an even bigger bummer than that is the fact that humidity returns, with dewpoints jumping back into the 70s by tomorrow afternoon.

Overnight, skies should be mostly clear to partly cloudy, with lows in the mid 70s.

Extended Outlook

While this ridge isn’t overly intense, it is likely to try to shift a bit in the beginning of the long-term period. By Friday, it looks as if the center of the ridge will shift eastward. However, as time moves along, the guidance suggests it will try to expand westward, continuing our summer-like pattern. The CPC reflects this sentiment in their 6-10 temperature and precip outlooks, with decent probabilities that we see above average temps and precip.
