Today: Partly to mostly cloudy, with showers/storms possible. Highs around 88°F. Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy, with storm chances remaining. Lows falling to around 66°F.
Let me just say: this has to be the most frustrating week of forecasting I have had in a long time. The models have been incredibly poor with initializing correct conditions and verifying conditions. So, essentially, forecasting convection, timing and location of it is all without decent short term guidance!
I digress. Overall, the pattern remains the same. We are on the eastern periphery of a slowly lifting shortwave trough to our west, and we are experiencing very warm and moist conditions across the region. This sets us up well for thunderstorms, as the atmosphere gets unstable.
The models aren’t forecasting great instability developing across the region tomorrow afternoon, but do feel that is a bit underplayed. I think we’ll see breaks in the clouds to allow for instability to build in a moist and warm environment. The main shortwave will begin moving northeastward as the day progresses, and smaller shortwave spokes will rotate just to our west. This should be enough to kick off some isolated showers/storms across the region again for this afternoon.
Highs should end up in the upper 80s, and that isn’t gonna feel good with dewpoints as high as they are
.
Overnight, we’ll see similar conditions, as clouds will likely remain along with the shower/storm chance. Lows will dip into the mid 60s.
Tomorrow: More of the same. Partly cloudy, with a scattered storm chance. Highs around 84°F. Sat. night: Partly cloudy, with a stray shower/storm. Lows around 65°F.
It is the weekend!! Everybody celebrate the first day of your weekend by celebrating the first day in a couple that I don’t think has a chance of being a complete washout across the region.
The forcing on Saturday is forecast to be better to the north and northwest of here on Saturday, but I still think there is a good chance that some if us see a scattered storm or two or three. The atmosphere will still be fairly muggy and warm, and this always sets us up for a chance at storms. It just takes one trigger left from possible storms tonight to see storms fire off tomorrow. Highs should reach the mid 80s.
Overnight, I think that skies remain partly cloudy, with a slight chance at storms. Lows falling into the mid 60s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy, with scatter thunderstorms. Highs around 85°F. Sun. night: Clouds and storms clearing out. Lows falling to around 64°F.
Sunday finally looks like a relatively easier day for forecast for; although, it isn’t simple by any means.
With the main trough propagates eastward to our north over the weekend, it should force a surface low that will drag a cold front behind it as it moves towards us. Very high instability values look to set up ahead of this, and this front will likely be a trigger for thunderstorms across the region. Look for highs in the mid 80s.
Overnight on Sunday, storms and clouds should clear as a relative airmass modification enters our region. Look for lows to fall into the mid 60s.
