Cooler End to 2015

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Tuesday, 12/29 – Mostly Cloudy – High 51˚ / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Slight Rain Chance – Low 43˚

Good morning, Bowling Green! As the year comes to a close, the temperatures will start to feel a bit closer to the averages for this time of year. Since December 21st, we’ve only recorded high temperatures in the 60s and 70s… that’s not normal.

Yesterday, in fact, we hit a high of 72°, setting a new record for Bowling Green. So what’s “normal”? Our climatological normal for December 28th is a high of 45°; we surpassed that by 27°! Wow.

If you’re like me and ready to wear those nice sweaters you received for Christmas, the weather is finally turning around. We’re looking at much cooler temperatures over the next several days compared to what we’ve experienced for the majority of the month.

Today, temperatures will still remain a few degrees above normal, in the low-50s. The winds will die down and conditions will remain dry with mostly cloudy skies sticking around. As for tonight, mostly cloudy skies will keep temperatures in the low 40s with a slight chance of rain picking up as the night progresses.

Wednesday, 12/30 – Mostly Cloudy; Slight Rain Chance – High 52˚ / Wednesday Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 34˚

Beginning late Tuesday night and into early Wednesday, an upper-level trough will bring just a slight rain chance back into the picture. This will allow for scattered showers from the south. Models are showing much of this rain remaining to our east, but a slight chance for a scattered shower in Bowling Green is not out of the question.

Any rain that we do receive will be light, unlike that of this past Sunday or Monday! Temperatures Wednesday will be right about identical to highs on Tuesday – in the low 50s.

Lows overnight, however, will start to feel a bit colder as temperatures drop into the mid-30s.

Thursday, 12/31 – Partly Cloudy – High 43˚ / Thursday Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 26˚

As we celebrate 2015 and ring in 2016, temperatures will continue to drop! Thursday, we’re looking at highs in the low-40s during the day with temperatures dropping below freezing overnight. So be sure to bring your jacket along with your champagne as you head out the door on Thursday!

High pressure will keep us dry and quiet as temperatures remain at or below the climatological average for the extended forecast period and into the new year!
