Wednesday Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today, 11/25 – Mostly Sunny – High 64˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 46˚

Good morning, Bowling Green, and Happy Thanksgiving Eve! While no, Thanksgiving Eve is not a recognized holiday, I’d like to think of it as the day of preparation before the feast. The day of preparation before seeing those family members that ask the same awkward questions every year. The day of preparation before sitting on the couch all day and watching football.

And this year for “Thanksgiving Eve”, the weather looks pleasant! While we’ve experienced very cold temperatures this week, a general warming trend has increased temperatures on a gradual scale for the last few days. Yesterday, the Bowling Green airport hit a high temperature of 59°, which was 6° warmer than the high temperature of the day prior.

This warming trend will continue today as we see highs in the low 60s under mostly sunny skies. It will feel chilly out there this morning, however, with lows in the mid to upper-30s. Overall, a very nice day is in store for Bowling Green with mostly sunny skies, above-average temperatures, and breezy conditions due to strong southerly flow.

Tonight, temperatures will remain a bit more mild with lows in the mid-40s under partly cloudy skies.

While many of us think (at least I know I do!) of Thanksgiving as a time to wear sweaters, eat comfort food, wrap up in blankets, and take a nap, the weather this year may deviate what most think of Thanksgiving weather to be. For example, the normal temperatures for this time of year consist of a high of 55° and a low of 35°; we could hit up to 10° above the normal today!

Southerly flow will continue to dominate on Thursday, bringing not only an increase in temperatures, but also an increase in atmospheric moisture (which can be seen by a large jump in dew point temperatures). Precipitation will hold off on Thursday, but clouds will increase throughout the day ahead of the next system.

With partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper-60s, the weather looks perfect for throwing the football around between dinner and dessert. Whatever you do, cherish that time spent with family and be thankful for all that life has to offer!

If your shopping is starting Thursday night, expect temperatures to remain quite mild as you’re waiting in line for your favorite stores to open. Lows overnight will remain in the mid-50s overnight.

Friday, 11/27 – Chance for Showers – High 64˚ / Friday Night – Rain Likely – Low 53˚

Weather conditions will be a little bit more wet beginning Friday, as a slow moving cold front makes its way into our area. Fingers crossed that the rainfall hits Bowling Green in the afternoon and evening hours, as it looks to be scheduled as of now as the models have pushed the timing back.

This would allow the WKU-Marshall football fans and any early-bird shoppers to enjoy their festivities before the rain comes through! We will continue to keep you updated on the timing and impact of this system.

Rain does look to be part of the forecast this weekend through the beginning of next week, so keep those umbrellas handy!
