By now, you have surely heard about the strong low pressure center that is forecast to move out of the southwest, and rapidly intensify as it moves northeastward across the Great Plains.

There are all kinds of threats that are consistent with a low of this magnitude. Severe weather is possible tomorrow, high winds will be likely across much of the midwest. However, one of the threats that you might not think of in association with a November storm is a blizzard!

That’s right. Portions of Colorado and Kansas are expecting an early season blizzard event to occur late tonight and into tomorrow as the surface low rapidly intensifies. While substantial snowfall accumulations aren’t expected, they are expecting winds to gust in excess of 40 mph across the area during the snowfall. The NWS in Denver, CO says this:

“NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL ALSO INCREASE THROUGH THE NIGHT…BECOMING STRONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. VISIBILITIES ON THE PLAINS WILL BE NEAR ZERO AT TIMES…”

This is gonna be a crazy storm not only in our area locally, but across the Midwest.
