A weak tropical storm in the northwest Pacific is expected to intensify over the next few days, tracking toward the northern Philippines. Although the track is still very uncertain at this point, the GFS model suggests that Koppu could spend at least 3 days over the northern Phillipines, specifically the island of Luzon.

Tremendous damage from torrential rains, storm surge, and deadly mudslides could potentially occur over the Luzon island if Koppu continued on its forecasted track.
