While much of the weather community has been focused on the flooding in South Carolina, interesting things have been happening in regard to California weather as well. An upper-level shortwave trough produced much needed precipitation across the state.
Some locations north of San Diego, CA picked up almost 2″ of rainfall. Given the widespread drought across the region, any precipitation is welcome.

In the mountains of southern California, measurable snow was recorded according to National Weather Service offices in Los Angeles and San Diego.
