Sticky Bowling Green Weather

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today, 7/18 – Mostly Sunny; HOT – High 95˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy & Muggy – Low 76˚

Good Saturday morning, Bowling Green! While we should remain mostly dry this weekend, the heat is going to be absolutely oppressive. We’re talking high temperatures in the mid-90s with dew points in the 70s, creating heat indices up to 107° or 108°!

Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a HEAT ADVISORY that includes Bowling Green from 11:00 AM Saturday through 7:00 PM Sunday.

This weather is not only going to make you feel sticky, but it can also be dangerous. Please pay special attention to children, the elderly, and pets this weekend, as it is going to be a hot one. Be sure to stay hydrated and take breaks if spending time outdoors.

Those warm temperatures will be hanging tough, as temps don’t look to fall below 80° until after midnight; we may see a low around 76°, but not much cooler. Combine that with dew points in the 70s? A muggy summer night.

Sunday, 7/19 – Mostly Sunny; HOT; Slight Chc for Storms – High 96˚ / Sunday Night – Partly Cloudy; Slight Chc for Storms – Low 77˚

The stickiness (and the Heat Advisory) continue Sunday, as upper-level ridging and southwest flow bring more warm and moist air into the region. We may see an isolated storm or two Sunday as the atmosphere becomes more unstable, but the majority of rain looks to remain to our north and east.

Otherwise, Sunday looks to be a bit of a repeat of Saturday. We’re talking temperatures in the mid-90s and a heat index up to 108° (WOWZA). Temperatures Sunday night will drop back once again into the mid-70s.

Monday, 7/20 – Partly Sunny; Chc of Storms – High 91˚ / Monday Night – Mostly Cloudy; Chc of Storms – Low 73˚

A change of pace comes Monday as a front approaches our area early, bringing the chance for storms Monday and into the day Tuesday. While our greatest chance for rain (and heavy rainfall) looks to be Tuesday, scattered showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out for Monday.

Temperatures will be a bit “cooler” Monday due to the cloud cover and rain, with highs in the low 90s and an overnight low in the low 70s. This rain won’t provide much of a relief, as temperatures and humidity will climb for the remainder of the week. It is July, after all.
