Taking a Look Back at April 2015

We are all familiar with the phrase, “April showers bring May flowers,” and I believe that this saying held very true in April this year. The Bowling Green Airport received an impressive 9.08″ of rainfall during the month which officially makes it the 4th wettest April on record in Bowling Green.

Impressive rainfall was also seen across other portions of Kentucky with Louisville, Lexington, and Frankfort all seeing precipitation totals exceeding 10″. All of this rainfall was well distributed throughout the month, Bowling Green saw 13 days with at least 0.01″ of rainfall.

April was also warmer than usual across the state. The average monthly temperature in Bowling Green was 60.2º F which is 2.5º above normal. The warmest temperature of the month was 84º F on April 8 while the lowest temperature was 31° on April 5.

It will be interesting to see if the wet pattern will continue into May or not. In the latest Climate Prediction Center monthly precipitation outlook, Bowling Green is slated to see precipitation totals near normal.
