Storms to End the Week

Real-time BG Radar:

Today – Iso’d Storms – High 80˚ / Tonight – Iso’d Storms – Low 66˚

Today will be somewhat similar to yesterday, just fewer storms. Spotty storms will develop, mainly later in the afternoon, with the best chances being to our north. A marginal severe threat will exist across the area today:

Any storms we see will likely have heavy rains, with possibly some small hail and gusty winds as well. That’s the nature of the game on warm and unstable days like today. You might want to grab that umbrella as you head out the door this morning.

The NAM 4 km shows the potential for storms to our north late afternoon. Storms could easily fire farther south than what the simulated reflectivity shows, so the potential for a wet evening commute exists.

Thursday – Scat’d Storms – High 80˚ / Thurs Night – Strong T-Storms – Low 58˚

Scattered showers and storms are possible during the morning and early afternoon hours on Thursday. The sun will likely come out toward late afternoon, helping aid the instability in the region.

This will make way for a stronger line of storms to swing through late Thursday evening into early Friday morning, out ahead of a cold front. While the storms are expected to weaken as then head east toward Bowling Green, a few cells along the line may be severe.

The main threats will be gusty winds and small hail, but a few isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out. The Storm Prediction Center has put Bowling Green right and surrounding areas in a Slight Risk for severe storms Thursday:

Flooding remains a concern for much of the area, especially to our north, as storms continue to impact the same areas day after day. Flash flooding is possible with any storm over the next couple of days so continue to exercise caution during heavy rain scenarios.

Friday – T-Storms Early – High 66˚ / Fri Night – Mostly Clear – Low 46˚

The round of stronger storms should move out early Friday morning, making way for clearing skies and cooler conditions. Temperatures will be as much as 15 degrees cooler behind. But on the bright side, 15 degrees cooler is still the upper 60’s! Welcome to Spring.
