Taking a Look Back at March in Bowling Green

Now that April is officially upon us, let’s take a look at some of the weather data collected at the Bowling Green Airport during the month of March.

The average high temperature in Bowling Green was 59.0°F and the average low temperature was 35.6ºF. The overall average temperature was 47.3ºF which is 1.1 degrees below normal. There were two days this month in which the high temperature failed to reach the freezing mark while our low temperature dipped below freezing nine times.

Bowling Green received 6.27″ of precipitation during the month of March which is 1.86″ above normal. Most of this rainfall came in big events as there were three days during the month where Bowling Green received over an inch of precipitation. Our wettest day occurred on March 4 when Bowling Green received 2.31″ of precipitation. Surprisingly, there was no thunder officially reported during the month.

It was a snowy march in southern Kentucky with Bowling Green receiving 7.2″ of snowfall which is 6.1″ above normal. Most of this snowfall occurred on March 5 and the March snows brought the 2014-2015 winter snow total to 23.5″ in Bowling Green.
