Winter Weather on WKU’s Campus

College students cried out in celebration Sunday night when the WKU Alert texts came in that classes had been cancelled Monday. Many spent the day off sleeping in, while others awoke early to watch the snow pile up around campus. Snow days call for sledding and selfies to celebrate the rare occasion of a day off of school. Bob Skipper (also known as Skipper Bob) once again resurfaced as a local celebrity, saving the day and saving students from trekking up the hill to their 8 A.M.s.

However, the snow days haven’t been nice to all of the students on Western’s campus. A power outage in PFT, Zacharias, and Meredith residence halls earlier today displaced students while repairs are being made. Follow @wku or @wkunews on Twitter for the latest updates on the power situation.

With Warren County Schools officially out for the rest of the week, those of us here at WKU are waiting for the possibility of similar good news. Roads have been cleared, but will refreeze overnight; this along with the additional snow expected could create further travel hazards for students here at WKU.

As always, be sure to follow @WarrenCountyWX and @WxOrNotBG for the latest winter weather info. Be safe, and enjoy the snow!
