Bowling Green Afternoon Weather Update

Bowling Green Weather Real Time Radar:

**A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the entire coverage area (Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Simpson and Warren County) from 9pm tonight through 6pm Wednesday evening**

This Afternoon – Sunny – High 23° / Tonight – Snow – Low 14°

Mostly sunny skies will remain for the rest of the afternoon with temperatures climbing into the low and mid 20’s. This has helped the road ways melt quite a bit, but even with all the melting, most roads are still treacherous.

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory tonight through Wednesday, with additional snow accumulations of up to 3 inches possible. Snow will move in from the northwest tonight, and could accumulate 1 to 2 inches for much of the area. The HRRR simulated radar model below loops hourly from 12am – 4am tonight. It favors pockets of heavier snow moving through before sunrise:

Although roads are not in the best shape after the big snow event we just had, re-freezing of the melted snow tonight and additional snow on top of the ice will once again lead to treacherous travel for the Wednesday morning commute. Use caution as you head out the door tomorrow.

Wednesday – Scat’d Snow Showers, Windy – High 18° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low -10°

A cold front will move through the region tomorrow, causing temperatures to tumble throughout the day. This will also create wind gusts in excess of 20 mph. This will lead to dangerous wind chills both Wednesday and Thursday.

Additionally, snow squalls will impact much of the region as another disturbance impacts the area. When combined with the gusty winds, clear conditions can go to near whiteout conditions rapidly. This will lead to hazardous driving conditions and dangerous conditions for anyone outside. Bundle up before leaving the house at any point in time tomorrow!

Thursday – COLD – High 10° / Thurs Night – Cloudy – Low -4°

Some of the coldest air on record will arrive Thursday.  Temperatures Thursday morning will be near negative double digits! -10˚ is the current temp forecast for the Thursday morning commute.

If you don’t have to be out and about, don’t be. Otherwise, bundle up with as many layers as possible! The high temperature for the day will struggle to make it out of the single digits. Below is Thursday morning low’s from the NAM model…
