Warm Bowling Green Weather is Coming!

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 2/5 – Mostly Clear; Cold; Windy – High 31° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 20°

We’ll be waking up to MUCH colder temperatures this morning. This can be credited to a cold front that plowed southeast across the region last night. This same forcing also brought gusting winds of 30mph and a few snow showers along with it. If you see a few flurries flying this morning, don’t freak.

A few slick spots may be present on the morning commute, so please travel cautiously.

With temperatures near 20° this morning and winds gusting out of the north to around 10-20 mph, we should probably take a look at those wind chills. Yep, sure enough it will feel more like it’s between 5 and 15° with the gusty winds. Be sure to bundle up on your way to class and work…

Outside the bitter cold and windy conditions, today looks like a fairly nice day. We should see those clouds move out during the morning hours, bringing us rays of sunshine by this afternoon. Highs will be in the low 30s.

Tonight will bring partly cloudy skies to south central Kentucky, as well as a low of around 20°. Winds will likely calm down during the evening and overnight hours.

Friday 2/6 – Partly Cloudy; Warmer – High 46° / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 31°

The high pressure that dominated the region on Thursday will move to the south of the region on Friday. The clockwise flow around the center of high pressure will bring some warmer temperatures to the region once more. Southwesterly winds around 10 mph will help push those temperatures back into the mid to upper 40s.

And, since I always seem to get burned on southwest surface flow, I also wouldn’t be surprised to see some 50s across the area, especially under partly cloudy skies.

Friday night will once again bring partly cloudy skies and a low around 31°.

Saturday – Partly Cloudy – High 57° / Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy; Isolated Showers – Low 44°

A very nice day is shaping up for Saturday. High pressure just off the southeast coast of the US, as well as a small area of low pressure located in the central Plains, will act as a funnel over the region.

As a result, warm temperatures will once again overspread the area. Southwest winds on the order of 10-20 mph look possible, rocketing high temperatures into the mid to upper 50s across the area. Can we crack 60? There’s a chance.

Saturday night will bring an increase in moisture to the region ahead of our next weather maker. Mostly cloudy skies can be expected overnight with some very isolated showers possible. Lows will be in the mid 40s.

Like I mentioned earlier, we’re watching our next weather maker. Right now, it looks like a good chance of rain on Sunday, with dropping temperatures on Monday and into Tuesday morning. For what it’s worth, the days keep getting longer, which means we’re getting a better sun angle, which means we’ll eventually begin to warm up. It may take a while, but we’ll get there.
