Saturday Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today, 12/27 – Mostly Cloudy; Rain Likely- High 55º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Rain Likely – Low 42º

Good morning, Bowling Green! I hope everyone has enjoyed some time off for the holidays with their friends and family, especially with the wonderful weather we received yesterday! Unfortunately, today will not be a repeat of those beautiful conditions. Sad,  I know.

The high pressure that has been dominating the region, giving us warmer and drier weather, will be moving out of the area as a low pressure begins to cross the Great Lakes. How will this affect us? A cold front trailing off of the low pressure center will sweep through Saturday evening into Saturday night, bringing precipitation along with cooler temperatures. Rain chances will begin early afternoon and will continue into the evening and overnight hours. Be sure to bring your umbrella along if you’re heading out to watch the UL-UK game today!

As for temperatures, southerly winds will keep the high in the 50s during the day today before colder air settles in behind the front for Sunday. Lows look to remain in the low 40s for Bowling Green during the overnight hours.

Sunday, 12/28 – Cloudy; Scattered Showers – High 45º / Sunday Night – Mostly Cloudy; Showers Ending – Low 35º

Sunday, a developing low pressure to our south will work to keep rainfall chances around even once the cold front has moved through. Scattered rain showers should taper off around midnight. Below is a map of the projected rainfall from 6AM Saturday to 6AM Monday.

Monday, 12/29 – Partly Sunny – High 47º / Monday Night – Partly Cloudy  – Low 30º

Beginning Monday, rain chances for Bowling Green will cease for a few days! High pressure will begin to build back in to our west while the upper-levels of the atmosphere will be exhibiting predominately zonal flow, so weather will remain dry and pretty quiet for the start of the week.

Temperatures will reach the upper 40s during the day Monday and fall below freezing Monday night, according to the GFS. Colder temperatures are on the way next week! More details to come.
