Snow Anytime Soon?

There has been a lot of talk about a large cold wave coming in next week. And while we will surely see some of the coldest air so far this season, will there be a chance for snow with it?

Keep in mind this is simply just for fun. Forecasting past 3 days is challenging enough, let alone a couple weeks. However, the GFS model has been showing a storm tapping into the gulf moisture and heading out to sea around the November 17th – 18th time period. But, with a negative NAO and AO likely during that period, we can assume the GFS is wrong in suppressing the storm due to blocking in the Atlantic. With that being said, the last two runs of the GFS have trended toward the idea of a storm riding up along the Appalachians. Here is the GFS 12z run showing a rather large storm November 17th.

With Bowling Green primarily in the cold sector of the storm, this would mean several inches of snow!

However, (emphasis on the however) the chances of this panning out are very little as it is simply too far out for any credible data from the models. But this goes to show the type of winter pattern we may be gearing up for.
