Gulf Of Mexico Tropics Coming to Life?

It’s been quite the quiet tropical weather season for the Gulf of Mexico. However, could the Gulf of Mexico tropics come to life? A couple models seem to think so. The GFS model has been consistently spitting out a tropical storm that forms around the Yucatan Peninsula. The GFS model then moves the storm north into the Gulf of Mexico where it meanders around before making landfall.

The landfall portion of he aforementioned storm remains quite the mystery as the GFS has been very inconsistent in that regard. It is important to note that this is all mere speculation. We’ve seen plenty of tropical systems come and go on the models that never actually form. However, it is also important to note that the GFS is not the only model latching onto the idea. The CMA model also has a tropical system in the Gulf Of Mexico at the same time as the GFS.

Bottom Line: some tropical mischief is possible over the next couple of weeks in the Gulf of Mexico. Will there be a hurricane? It’s impossible to tell this far in advance, but it is plausible. Check back later for more updates.
