What a hot & humid day we’ve had across southern Kentucky thus far. Afternoon temperatures have soared into the low-mid 90s for the area as plenty of sunshine and blue skies have accompanied these hot conditions. Factor in dewpoint readings in the lower 70’s, heat indices have climbed near 100º for those feel like temperatures.

Surface high pressure takes full responsibility for the heat and humidity. The upper level ridge will build across the region and settle in for the next several days. In return, expect plenty more heat during the day with mild overnight conditions. Look for mostly clear skies tonight with lows in the lower 70’s.

**Heat Advisory goes into effect at 2pm**

This stretch of hot weather will continue into late week and much of the weekend. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 90’s once again as conditions become even more oppressive. Heat index values will reach the lower 100’s tomorrow afternoon. Nonetheless, if you’re out battling the heat, it’ll be very important to drink plenty of fluids and wear light colored clothing.

As the surface high settles in across the region, look for another calm night with warm lows. Temperatures will only drop into the low-mid 70’s.

Little relief is expected from the heat through this weekend. Winds will turn more from our southwest as a slight chance for a pop up shower or storm will exist. Any activity that does occur will be widely scattered and mainly diurnally driven during the peak heating hours. Otherwise, look for another hot & humid day with temperatures in the lower 90’s.

Any isolated storms that develop will diminish by the evening hours with the loss of daytime heating. Partly cloudy skies will prevail for our Saturday night as warm lows win out again.
