Although this hurricane season has been rather quiet over the Atlantic thus far, the Pacific season has been a different. Several storms have developed, however, there have been no major impacts to highly populated areas. That could change in the near future, as Hurricane Iselle & Tropical Storm Julio threaten Hawaii.
The residents of Hawaii are keeping a close eye over the open waters to their east, as two tropical cyclones crawl WNW across the Pacific. Hurricane Iselle and Tropical Storm Julio are currently ranging in speed from 10-15mph, making the wait all that more antagonizing.
The track Hurricane Iselle is forecast to take would be a direct impact on the Aloha State should it come true. This complex is currently rated a Category 4 with sustained winds estimated at ~140mph. See the image below for a visual of how it may play out:
Tropical Storm Julio’s track doesn’t look as promising, however, it will need to be monitored over the coming days in case anything comes to fruition. Current sustained winds on this weaken tropical cyclone is estimated at ~45mph:
Hopefully the residents of Hawaii take precautionary measures as these weather phenomenas continue to close in. In a perfect world, these tropical wonders would both dissipate before arrival. The thing is…we’re not in a perfect world.
