TWC Launches ‘Weather Geeks’

The Weather Channel has teamed up with Dr. Marshall Shepherd, former president of the American Meteorological Society, to create a new show called ‘Weather Geeks.’  This show takes on a different format than most programs on TWC as it is simply an open discussion about hot topics in the weather world.

Today’s show featured Dr. Chuck Doswell, a well-known scientist and storm chaser, as the guest speaker. They discussed the merits of storm chasing and some of the dangers associated with it as well. Additionally, in a segment called ‘Hail No,’ the two debunked a physics researcher’s paper explaining that a giant wall could be built in the U.S. to help block moisture flow and in turn prevent tornadoes in the central U.S.

The show is a 30-minute segment and will air every Sunday at noon. Next week’s episode should be very interesting as they will discuss social media hype, questionable websites, with the ‘Hail No’ segment getting into a particularly touchy subject; the polar vortex.
