Friday Morning Update

Real-time radar:

Today 6/20 – Scattered Showers and T-storms– High 90º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Iso’d Thunderstorms  – Low 71º

6am 71˚ – 9am 81˚ – 12pm 88˚ – 3pm 90˚ – 6pm 86˚ – 9pm 77˚

Good morning everybody. I wish I had some better news for the forecast today but it could be much worse. A shortwave will be rippling across the Ohio Valley and a resultant area of low pressure will enhance our chances for precipitation in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon and evening hours. The graphic below illustrates this well with the approaching low to our northwest and moving east across the region:

NAM guidance suggests the bulk of the precipitation activity should move out of the area into the late evening hours and push east. However, don’t rule out stray showers or storms after dark as well. Some areas may see isolated severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. Watch the radar and stay weather aware.

Summer Solstice Saturday 6/21 –Partly Sunny, Isolated T’storms – High 87º / Saturday Night – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d T’storms – Low 68º

With the passing cold front associated with the area of low pressure passing through on Friday, expect northwest winds to take the edge off of the high heat and humidity but not much. Chances for precipitation decrease but will remain mostly isolated as we saw much through earlier this week. Still a very warm and humid atmosphere to contend with but overall quite well outside. Stay cool and stay hydrated.

Sunday 6/22 –Partly Sunny, Isolated T’storms – High 89º / Saturday Night – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d T’storms – Low 70º

Sunday is looking very much like Saturday; another day of heat and humidity with heat indices into the low 90’s across the region. Model guidance are in a bit of disagreement with the exact placement of where the bulk of the precipitation activity will be. For the most part, isolated to scattered thunderstorms is expected but chances are fairly low. Just keep an eye on radar and stay, as usual, weather aware.

If the weather turns out to be perfect all day Sunday, then great! It’s finally summer time anyway, get in the pool and stay cool. (My fingers are crossed anyway)
