Another Dry Day On Tap

Real Time Regional Radar:

———————————————————————————-

Today 6/18 – Partly Cloudy – High 92° / Tonight – Clearing Skies – Low 72°

6am 70˚ – 9am 81˚ – 12pm 89˚ – 3pm 92˚ – 6pm 89˚

The weather story will remain much the same across the region as it has the last few days. There is an upper level trough positioned just to our west, along with an upper level ridge to the east. This places us in upper level southwesterly flow, which will continue to bring warm, moist air much like a conveyor belt. Another day in the 90s, another happy/crazy dance, whichever you prefer.

There is some pretty dry air aloft, which will mean we’ll remain dry across the region. However, there is enough moisture in the air to make way for some partly cloudy skies across the region. After a high of 92°, expect those clouds to begin to disappear in the overnight hours. Lows will be around 72°.

Thursday 6/19 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 91° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 70°

By Thursday afternoon, we’ll have been baking in warm temperatures for quite a few days, which helps build up instability. It will come to a head on Thursday, when we could see some isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Coverage should remain fairly limited. The Hi-Res NAM Model wants to develop the action east of Bowling Green, however I can’t rule out a stray shower or storm in the Bowling Green area. Will the Dome prevail?

We should see a general decrease in thunderstorm activity in the overnight hours. Partly cloudy skies will be likely with a low of 70°.

Friday 6/20 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 90° / Fri Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 68°

On Friday, we’ll see a decaying cold front sag slowly southward across the region. This will help enhance lift across the region, which will, in turn enhance a threat for thunderstorms during the afternoon hours. Because the front is decaying, it won’t be too potent, so I’ll stick with isolated thunderstorms. Any storms that form will be capable of producing heavy rain and numerous lightning strikes.

Some thunderstorms will be possible in the evening and overnight hours. Storm coverage will likely be fairly limited, and much less than that found during the day. However, I will continue a chance for isolated thunderstorms due to the approaching weak cold front. Otherwise, expect lows to be in the upper 60s across the region.
