This Afternoon 4/14 – Scat’d Showers & Storms, Breezy – High 74˚ / Tonight – Rain Likely – Low 37˚

3pm 73˚ – 6pm 60˚ – 9pm 52˚ – 12am 46˚ – 3am 43˚ – 6am 37˚

The first half of the work week will be a wild ride, with gusty winds, moderate rainfall, snow chances, and record cold expected before temperatures rebound by midweek. Currently, we are seeing a break in the rainfall this afternoon with clouds continuing to hang on. The cold front that will bring our next round of rain is positioned to our west, allowing temps to hang steady in the lower 70s.

Ahead of the front, winds of 15-25 mph will blow from the south. The National Weather Service in Louisville has expired the Wind Advisory that was in effect earlier today although winds will still be pretty gusty until the cold front passes tonight.

An area of rain will accompany the passage of the cold front tonight, and rain looks to begin this evening and last through Tuesday morning. Rainfall looks to be around 0.5″-1″ and here is the latest run of the NAM model showing estimated precipitation amounts by Tuesday morning.

If you were going to try and catch the lunar eclipse tonight, unfortunately thick cloud cover and rain will destroy any chance of seeing the eclipse.

Tue – Iso’d Rain/Snow Showers Early, COLD – High 46˚ / Tue Night – Clear & Cold – Low 27˚

We will see precipitation gradually end tomorrow morning as the cold front sweeps through. The cold front will allow northwesterly winds to usher in much colder air and we could even see a few snow showers tomorrow morning as the cold air catches up to the back of the precipitation.

Skies will clear by tomorrow afternoon but temperatures will struggle to get out of the mid 40s. By Tuesday night, temperatures will plummet into the middle to upper 20s and we have a shot at reaching our record low temperature for the date tomorrow night.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for all of western and central Kentucky, and you will want to begin making preparations to move plants inside to avoid a hard freeze.

Wed – Sunny – High 58˚ / Wed Night – Clear – Low 37˚

High pressure will take over on Wednesday and help us to begin our temperature rebound. Skies will be clear with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 30s. Temperatures will be back in the 60s on Thursday and following some rain chances on Friday, a beautiful Easter weekend is shaping up.
