This dog understands, today is a day to go outside.

Today 3/31 – Sunny & Splendid – High 72˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy, Iso’d Showers – Low 52˚

3pm 70˚ ~ 6pm 64˚~ 9pm 59˚ ~ 12am 57˚ ~ 3am 55˚ ~ 6am 52˚

Good afternoon, if you haven’t been outside today it might be time to step outdoors. Temperatures are making a run at the low 70s this afternoon, as we find ourselves under a ridge responsible for southerly winds.

Some high clouds have moved into the area this afternoon, and as we head into tonight we will see more clouds move in ahead of a very weak cold front swinging in from the west. This cold front will produce isolated showers across south central Kentucky, but most of us will stay dry as there is not much moisture for these showers to work with.

Tue – Partly Sunny – High 74˚ / Tue Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 52˚

On Tuesday, we will have a repeat of today’s beautiful weather as a boundary setting up to our north will allow those southerly winds to continue. We will see a few more clouds than today due to the boundary, but skies will still remain partly cloudy with high temperatures in the lower 70s once again.

Lows on Tuesday night will only drop into the lower 50s with partly cloudy skies. After a relatively quiet start to the week, things will begin to change as we head into Wednesday.

Wed – Partly Sunny, Iso’d Storms – High 75˚ / Wed Night – Storms Likely – Low 60˚

Wednesday will be another warm day, but not without some rain chances as well. The boundary to our north will become a warm front associated with a strengthening area of low pressure over the Plains. This means that south central Kentucky will be sitting in the warm sector which will keep temperatures warm.

This area of low pressure will slowly move eastward as the week progresses and multiple disturbances will move northeast along the warm front. The first disturbance will bring a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon with storms more likely on Wednesday night. Rounds of precipitation will continue on Thursday and Friday as the area of low pressure scoots east. Here is the 5-day rainfall forecast from the WPC through Saturday morning.

One of the concerns with these waves of precipitation is the possibility of 1-2″ of total rainfall by the week’s end. Another concern is that some of the storms on Friday could be on the strong side as a cold front will help to trigger these storms. We will continue to monitor the potential for heavy rain and storms as the week goes on and keep you updated with the latest forecast.

For now, enjoy the next few days before the weather takes a turn for the worse. For more frequent updates on the storm potential later this week, be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on Twitter. That’s all for this afternoon, enjoy the rest of the day.
