Today 2/14 – Rain Showers Likely – High 45˚ / Tonight – Snow Showers Likely – Low 26˚

A cold front (clipper system) is slated to dive southeast across the area today, creating widespread rain showers by noon, as temperatures catapult into the mid 40s. Until that time comes, expect rays of sunshine to occupy the sky.
As we get late into the afternoon, temperatures are forecast to plummet thanks to the passing front, creating the potential for scattered snow showers. Here’s a look at the current surface setup:
As far as accumulations are concerned, I’m sticking to what I’ve said for a few days now. It looks like we may see a spotty dusting up to 1″…if anything at all. Regardless, as temperatures fall below freezing, slick spots will be inevitable. Travel with caution on the evening commute.
Any slight change in the track of this weather maker could mean drastic changes to the forecast. Stay connected to @Wx_Or_Not and @WarrenCountyWx for frequent updates throughout the day as more data becomes available.
The freeze line looks to stay to our north until late in the day, which should cancel out major accumulations. The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for counties along and north of the Western Kentucky Parkway, where higher snow totals are expected…go figure. Have a look:

A mix of sun and clouds should accompany us through the start of our Saturday, with an approaching weak disturbance creating an increasing in cloud coverage as the day progresses.
As we get into tonight, sufficient forcing will combine with available moisture to create isolated snow showers. Accumulations look unlikely, as anything that falls should be light.

Our pattern will finally take a break from the action on Sunday, as southerly winds combine with rays of sunshine to take temperatures into the low – mid 40s. Same rules apply for Sunday night. Nothing to talk about outside of a few scattered clouds.
We’ll kickoff a warming trend as we get into the start of next week. Temperatures will steadily climb as the days pass by, with highs reaching the upper 60s – lower 70s by Wednesday. We may even get a few rumbles of thunder in here come Thursday and Friday. Now that’s my idea of a welcomed forecast.
