Friday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Rain Showers Likely – 44˚ & Falling / Tonight – Scat’d Snow Showers – Low 18˚

3pm 44˚ ~ 6pm 36˚ ~ 9pm 30˚ ~ 12am 25˚ ~ 3am 18˚ ~ 6am 18˚

Not too much change in the forecast, but a few alterations, nonetheless.  Temperatures have jumped a few degrees higher than expected, and we’ll remain above freezing for the next several hours as a result.

This is bad news for snow lovers, as temps will keep all rain in the forecast until after sunset.  The good news is that the evening commute shouldn’t experience any impacts outside of wet roads.

By late this evening, I think we’ll see temps fall below freezing, creating a brief changeover to a wintry mix/snow, with minor accumulations of a spotty dusting – 1/2″ not out of the question.  Between you & me…I wouldn’t count on seeing much of anything.  This should come as no surprise.  Thanks a lot, Gandalf.

Regardless if we see snow or not, temps tumbling below freezing will cause roadways to become slick tonight, so please use caution if you’re out and about.  Those of you located along and north of the WKY Parkway will have the best chance at seeing snow, with amounts of a dusting – 3″ possible.  Here’s a look at how things are shaping up:

Sat – Increasing Clouds – High 36˚ / Sat Night – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 27˚

A mix of sun & clouds should accompany us through the start of our Saturday, with an approaching weak disturbance creating an increasing in cloud coverage as the day progresses.

As we get into the night, sufficient forcing will combine with available moisture to create isolated snow showers.  Accumulations look unlikely, as anything that falls should be very light.

Sun – Sunny – High 46˚ / Sun Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 30˚

Our pattern will take a hiatus from the action on Sunday, as winds out of the south coincide with rays of sunshine to take temperatures into the low – mid 40s.  Same rules apply for Sunday night.  Nothing to talk about outside of a few scattered clouds.

We’ll begin a warming trend as we get into the start of next week.  Temperatures will steadily climb as the days pass by, with highs reaching the upper 60s – lower 70s by Wednesday.  We may even get a few rumbles of thunder in here come Thursday and Friday.  Now that’s my idea of a welcomed forecast.

That will be all for the time being.  Don’t forget to stay connected to @WarrenCountyWx & @Wx_Or_Not for up to date info regarding our snow chances.  Enjoy what’s left of your Friday.  Stay safe!  Thanks for reading.
