“All aboard!”

This Afternoon 12/19 – Increasing Clouds, BREEZY – High 60˚ / Tonight – Iso’d Showers – Low 49˚

3pm 60˚ ~ 6pm 52˚ ~ 9pm 50˚ ~ 12am 50˚ ~ 3am 49˚

Forecast looks to be right on track up to this point, folks.  Clouds have started to become more numerous over Bowling Green, and this trend should continue through the afternoon and evening.  We’ll also have to deal with brisk, southerly winds of 15-30mph through this time frame.  Overnight, isolated showers will enter the forecast, as our atmosphere becomes more saturated, thanks to warm air advection from the southwest.

Fri – Scat’d Showers & Storms – High 64˚ / Fri Night – Showers & Storms Likely – Low 56˚

Showers will become more scattered as we get into Friday, with the potential for a few rumbles of thunder on the table as well.  A stalled front will be located to our northwest along the Ohio River, where the heaviest rainfall will occur throughout the day.  Our atmosphere will really moisten up Friday night, setting up a potential hazardous weather situation through Sunday.  Don’t you just love a rainy weekend!?

Sat – Showers & Storms Likely (Potentially Severe) – High 67˚ / Sat Night – Showers & Storms Likely (Potentially Severe) – Low 60˚

Widespread rain showers will continue, however, we’ll also have to deal with the potential development of a few strong/severe thunderstorms Saturday evening and night.  Parameters in place will provide the atmosphere with the capability to produce damaging winds and possibly even a few brief tornado spin ups.  No need to panic…just stay aware.  Our main concern will be the potential for localized flooding from torrential rainfall.  All in all, we could see anywhere from 2-5″ of rainfall across our area Friday – Sunday.  See why I lead off with the Ark??

The latest NAM simulated radar model below is valid for 9am Saturday…looks a bit damp, doesn’t it?

The following gif gives you an idea of the main low pressure’s path as it dumps the majority of rain from 12pm Saturday – 6am Sunday.  This disturbance will play a key role in supplementing our hazardous weather conditions.  It starts in eastern Texas, shoots northeast across the Ohio Valley:
