Rain Arrives Tomorrow

Today – Partly Sunny – High 68 / Tonight Increasing Clouds – Low 49

7am 48 ~ 10am 56 ~ 1pm 64 ~ 4pm 62 ~ 7pm 56

Partly sunny skies will accompany south central Kentucky today, as light southerly winds remain in place.  This will allow temperature values to jump into the upper 60s as we get into the early afternoon.  Increasing clouds will take place this afternoon and evening, as a cold front approaches from our west.  The NAM model below is valid for temperature values at 2pm today:

Wed – Scat’d Showers & Storms – High 70 / Wed Night – Showers & Storms Likely – Low 40

7am 52 ~ 10am 60 ~ 1pm 67 ~ 4pm 64 ~ 7pm 60

A mid-latitude cyclone will take shape over the central Plains, and advance northeast to the Great Lakes. In response to this, the system’s associated cold front will begin to track west to east across our region.

This will result in scattered showers and a few storms throughout the afternoon, with widespread rain showers expected Wednesday night. Severe weather is NOT expected, however, wind gusts of 20-30mph will be possible. Rainfall amounts could range up to .75-1″. The image provided displays simulated radar activity for 6pm Wednesday evening:

Thu – Gradual Clearing – High 52 / Thu Night – Clear – Low 31

High pressure will build in behind the cold front, supplementing partly to mostly sunny skies, along with a cool down.  Northerly winds will filter in a colder airmass, which will limit afternoon highs to around 50 degrees.  Overnight, lows are forecast to flirt with the freezing threshold of 32 degrees.

That’s all I’ve got this morning, gang.  I’ll be back this afternoon with another look at how the forecast is shaping up.  Have a great Tuesday, and thanks for reading!
